Youth Program at the Rainbow Community Center is designed to promote self-acceptance and a positive self-identity for all LGBTQ+ youth. We provide education; develop leadership; promote activism; and encourage socialization in a safe-space for LGBTQ+, questioning, and ally youth.

LGBTQ+ & Ally Youth Ages:
Rainbow Youth Groups include scheduled guest speakers, presentations, special projects, workshops, and discussions. They are always facilitated by our Youth Outreach Counselors who are trained to hold a fun and safe space for LGBTQ+ youth between the ages 11-25. Please refer to the Rainbow Youth Calendar under "Programs" for specific age requirements.

Rainbow’s Youth Outreach Counselors—many of whom are graduates of our youth program—lead our youth groups; supervise drop-in hours; provide 1-on-1 support services for our youth members; and help organize and chaperone our dances, youth events, and field trips. Our mentors also serve as a link between our youth program and other services at Rainbow.

The Collaborative is a joint community effort to reach and engage families, peers, schools, faith groups and other community members to raise awareness of the harmful effects of rejection on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning youth. Center for Human Development
Center for Human Development (CHD) is a community-based organization that offers a spectrum of services for at-risk youth, individuals, families, and communities in the Bay Area.
Gender Spectrum provides education, training and support to help create a gender sensitive and inclusive environment for all children and teens.
RYSE is committed to maintaining safety for the full diversity of youth they serve so they are able to take healthy risks emotionally, politically, and physically
Meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday from 4pm to 5:30pm at the Rainbow Community Center's back conference room
collaborates to promote acceptance and creating safe/inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ youth in Contra Costa County schools, families, and faith communities. Rainbow runs the Central/East County Coalition, which focuses on collective work with school leaders, staff and students to expand and solidify a base of action within three of the county’s school districts: Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Pittsburg Unified School District/Pittsburg High School, and West Contra Costa Unified School District. In addition to these united efforts, the Inclusive Schools Coalition works with other organizations, agencies, and faith communities: Center for Human Development, Contra Costa County Office of Education T.U.P.E., Fred Finch Foundation, Contra Costa County Health Services, Claycord PFLAG+, Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church, Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church, Walnut Creek United Methodist Church.
