Covid-19 and facility update
We are offering in-person and virtual therapy! Rainbow has settled in our new Concord location at 2380 Salvio Street, Suite 301, Concord CA 94520. If you would like to stop by the new space, make an appointment, otherwise, we are open Monday through Friday from 10am-3pm.
Overview of services
Due to the experiences of rejection & discrimination encountered by LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, it is vital to have a safe space to explore these issues. Rainbow offers hope when it is most needed.

We provide clinical and peer groups for LGBTQIA2S+ to promote acceptance, bring people together, and improve communication.

Rainbow delivers outpatient mental health services, specifically serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning LGBTQIA2S+ communities. We offer:

Contra Costa Health Plan Medi-Cal accepted. We have a one-year service limit for our clinical services, including case management.

When contacting our Confidential Intake Line, you will be asked to leave a message, and we will get back to you within 7-10 business days to discuss your needs. In addition to therapy, we have different (in-person and virtual) support and peer groups for people to connect with others in the community in a positive space.

IMPORTANT: If you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in crisis and need to speak with someone right away, you can call 1-800-273-TALK, or text CONNECT to 741741 to talk with a trained crisis counselor. We do NOT accommodate mental health emergencies due to the outpatient setting of our center.

How does it work?

Disclaimer: By filling out this intake, you will be added to a confidential database that is accessible by any of our clinical team.

Within 1-2 weeks, the Clinical Team will give you a call and talk with you about your interest in our services and talk with you more about therapist availability.

Once you have been matched with a therapist, they will reach out to you to set up an appointment and send along the necessary paperwork.

Rainbow is open Monday-Friday, we do not provide weekend sessions.

As of August 1st, 2023, we have implemented a 1-year service time limit policy.

When you are assigned a clinician, they will share more information about the policy.

We offer both Telehealth and in-person appointments, dependent on client preference and therapist availability.

If there is a high demand for therapy services, there may be a long wait time to be assigned a clinician. We will occasionally contact you by phone or email to request an update on your interest in remaining on the therapy waitlist. Please respond to our email so we can keep an accurate list of prospective clients. We will reach out to you three times, and we if we do not hear back from you, we will assume you are no longer interested and will remove you from the list.

Please note that if you have a child under 12 and parents are divorced we will need a copy of divorce custody agreement.
Do we take insurance?

We currently ONLY take Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) MediCal insurance, and if you have a different type of insurance, a sliding scale fee will be determined with a clinician before beginning services.
Intern training program
Our intensive clinical training program is geared to support masters interns seeking licensure in marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, and clinical social work. Individual clinical supervision, group supervision, didactic trainings, agency wide in-services, interdisciplinary clinical meetings, cultural competency trainings, peer chart review, and staff meetings are components of the training program.

Trainees and associates commit to providing at least 10 clinical hours per week. Time commitments range from one academic year to one calendar year. Rainbow prioritizes culturally humble services, and we actively recruit interns who can provide services in Spanish and English. Please let us know if you have language capabilities.

Due to our staffing, we are unable to provide supervised clinical training for clinical psychology PhD and PsyD candidates and interns.

Our team is comprised of clinicians who are at different levels of training and experience. At Rainbow, we work with and guide clinicians from trainees until they become licensed clinicians.
