Shirley Wilson
Shirley has volunteered for Rainbow since we began in 1996. She has occupied many roles during her 20 years. Shirley has lived in Contra Costa County for most of her life, and worked at Safeway for 33 years. She was first inspired to volunteer with the LGBTQ community when she witnessed the trauma and discrimination that accompanied the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. Shirley has worked as a special event volunteer, a front desk receptionist, and a member of the board of directors. Earlier in her years as a volunteer, Shirley was instrumental in her support of the senior program at Rainbow, where she helped to organize monthly lunches and tea events. One of her proudest moments was in 2007 RCC hosted an honors night for her and crowned her "Honorary Homosexual." Shirley has been a loyal, supportive, and loving ally for many years. This year, Shirley took a break from retirement to donate one of her delicious and beautiful cakes for our auction!

The MelloWest Space
My name is DeShauna. In 2010, I decided to challenge my mind, spirit, and body alignment by beginning my yoga practice. This allowed my connection with clients to become more than just a mentorship, but a partnership in their goals. Through self-discoveries in yoga and coaching, I resolved to deepen the mind/ body connection and received my yoga certification in 2015. I’ve learned that mastering the “self” is a lifelong path, yet the journey there is where meaningful experience happens. I offer different styles of yoga, meditation and transformational coaching to support community members with their healing journey.
