Interim Executive Director
December 2022

Dear Rainbow Community,
We are reaching out with a plan and update about the leadership of Rainbow Community Center, as a follow up to what was shared in our beloved former Executive Director Kiku Johnson’s previous communication about his departure and new role in Portland, Oregon in late October.
In the past couple of months our Leadership team of 6 amazing Directors and our Board of Directors have been hard at work devising a plan for interim and future executive leadership at Rainbow Community Center. We are excited to share with you the results of that work. Dodi Zotigh is to come on as our part-time Interim Executive Director from January through June of 2023- when we aim to have hired our next executive leader.
We intend to hire a search firm next year to support us in finding the right candidate for permanent executive leadership at Rainbow. Rest assured, RCC is in a strong position to continue thoughtfully serving and working with our clients, community partners and funders throughout this transition.
Dodi has been in the Rainbow Community Center network for the past 14 years, and originally joined as a volunteer. She later served on the board for the maximum term of 6 years, including 2 years as the Board President during a key time of need and transition for the organization. Dodi not only served previously in a volunteer capacity as the Interim ED, but led the hiring process and hire of former Executive Director Kiku Johnson.
Since her time on the board, Dodi has been a contract trainer with RCC, working with staff to present workshops on SOGIE (sexual orientation, gender identity andexpression) to schools and healthcare organizations.
Dodi has a Bachelors degree from Cornell University in Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies and two Masters degrees. Professionally, she has spent the past 20 years of her career in healthcare and education. Presently she is the Surgical Technologist Program Director and Healthcare Career Pathway Program Manager at Mount Diablo Adult Education (part of Mt Diablo Unified School District). Dodi is also a Certified Surgical Technologist at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. Finally, Dodi served in the military for 11 years during the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” era.
On a personal note, Dodi has lived in Contra Costa for over a decade and is deeply invested in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies locally. Dodi is a proud parent of an LGBTQIA+ child, who is active in RCC programming. Her kiddo attended our first year of Camp FIERCE this past summer, and is now in our new year round “Little Unicorns” program for LGBTQIA+ youth under age 11.
In early 2023 we will be opening up recruiting for our next RCC executive leader. For now, if you would like to apply submit your CV early, feel free to contact hiring@rainbowcc.org. If you have general inquiries or suggestions around our transition, you can direct them to our Board President at robyn@rainbowcc.org and our Director of Development at kelly@rainbowcc.org.
Thank you so much for your continued support and championing of Rainbow Community Center. We could never do the work we do for the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies without each and every one of you.
Wishing you peace, wellness and a beautiful holiday season with your loved ones,

Dodi Zotigh
Interim Executive Director
