Want to Volunteer?
Volunteering
gives one a sense of purpose and pride.
Currently, the RCC needs volunteers in the following areas:
-
Board of Directors
– volunteers who serve
two year terms and pay the RAINBOW $500 annually to perform that
service. Additionally, they have committed to attending 50% of
all Center fundraisers and sell tickets for the Center’s major events
while making significant in-kind contributions. Many of the
Directors serve multiple terms.
-
Board of Advisors
– volunteers, many have served as Directors, without defined terms who
bring prized skill levels to the RAINBOW, i.e., grant writing, public
relations, program consultations, fund raising and RCC promotion in the
larger population.
-
Committee Chairs and Members
– volunteers who spend many hours in
planning, completing and evaluating the tasks that produce the RCC’s
functions and programs. These “in-the-trenches” groups are the
worker bees and the determinants of success of any organization.
-
Group Facilitators
– volunteers with special skills of leadership who manage and direct
the many groups utilizing the RAINBOW. These groups identify the
life issues faced daily by the RCC’s population and offer individuals
the opportunity to explore and grow in a safe space under the tutelage
of the group facilitator.
-
Office Staff
– volunteers who faithfully devote fixed hours to the myriad
administrative tasks connected with the office of a busy and successful
RCC. Currently, our two volunteers are stretched extremely thin
and we are in GREAT NEED of a minimum of two additional volunteers,
preferably ladies to support our all-male staff.
-
Assistant Librarian
– Steve Spencer has faithfully developed and maintained our ever
expanding and valuable library of GLBTIQ literature. And, he
needs help. His many duties include cataloging all volumes on the
web so people may research titles from home. He receives and
processes donated collections and has developed the check our system so
individuals can access materials for an extended time. The
library is one of RCC’s hidden treasures.
-
Assistant Web-Master
– Sean Kleen continues in this role
and
spends many hours weekly redesigning, upgrading and writing for the
web. This mode of communication for the greater community is
being utilized ever more frequently as we follow the “hit” numbers
which are now counted and are currently averaging around 1,000 monthly.
-
Special Projects
– Volunteers who honor our call for a few hours to stuff envelopes,
set-up projects, support an event, etc. are scarce and this vital group
saves the RCC many dollars each year.
