Ben-David Barr, MSW, Ph.D Executive Director |
Ben received his Ph.D in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley and his MSW from the University of Washington. Prior to his work with the RCC, Ben worked in Utah as Salt Lake Valley Health Departments’s HIV/AIDS manager and before that he served as Executive Director at AIDS Project Utah and then the Utah AIDS Foundation. He also served as a founding board member of the Utah Harm Reduction Coalition and a Community Organizer for the Seattle-Based Gay City Health Project. Ben recently received a lifetime achievement award from the Utah Pride Center for his contributions to the development of health and service programs for Utah’s LGBTQ community.

Stephanie CoxOperations Manager |
Stephanie volunteered for many Chicago organizations. She helped organize lesbian speed dating for Dykediva.com, she served on a committee that created a lavish fundraising gala for the Lesbian Community Cancer Project, served on the Chicago Dyke March committee for two years and volunteered at Dyke Delicious, a monthly film series at Chicago Filmmakers. If “dyke” was in the title, Stephanie tried to be there. Currently, she’s a friendly visitor for Lavender Seniors in Oakland, an agency that pairs up volunteers with LGBTQ seniors in need. As Operations Manager, Stephanie keeps very busy with day-to-day events at the center and outreach to the community.

Leslie StewartGrants and Contracts Manager |
Leslie Stewart is the RCC’s Operations Manager. Leslie has spent over 20 years in nonprofit administrative positions, including 11 years as a Project Manager for the League of Women Voters of the Bay Area. She served for seven years on the RCC board of directors prior to joining the staff in August 2008. Leslie has served as a chapter leader for the local chapter of Marriage Equality USA since 2003 and was on the board of the local ACLU chapter for four years. Aviva Zuckrow, MFT Clinical Director |
Aviva Zuckrow, MFT, has worked in both clinical and administrative capacities for over 10 years. Her training and education focused on GLBTQ affirmative and effective work and Aviva has worked with GLBTQ clients in settings as varied as outpatient, residential and inpatient. As RCC’s Clinical Director, this is the first time in which the majority of her clients are GLBTQ identified, and she finds a wonderful feeling of freedom and opportunity in the air at the RCC. She believes in the saying that when one person is not free, none of us are free. Her current interests include mental health services for trans individuals as well as a deeper and more universal embracing and understanding of what she calls gender fluidity. She continues to work with youth, adults and seniors and believes strongly in cutting edge, quality mental health services of relevance to all.

Since receiving her MSW in 2002 from Hunter College School of Social Work, Rebecca has had the privilege of providing therapy to families and individuals of all ages in a variety of settings, including the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, the Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center and Wellspring Family Services. Rebecca uses a holistic approach based on each client’s unique needs and experiences. She is thrilled to be involved in work that helps others to express their authentic selves and develop more satisfying, connected, and empowered ways of being in the world. Wade Meyer is the Kind Hearts Program Director, overseeing programs for LGBT Seniors, People Living with HIV/AIDS, and the Stand in Pride project (services and education about domestic violence, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence in the LGBT community). Wade received a Master of Divinity and Certificate in Sexuality & Religion from Pacific School of Religion, where he focused on social service ministry and pastoral care & counseling.
